MKWeb is Apollo's flagship website. The site has been developed using Portal Constructor and is now in its 6th year of supplying local information about Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. MKWeb is the official source of civic information in Milton Keynes, and works together with Milton Keynes Council, English Partnerships, the Library. Milton Keynes Theatre and the Shopping Centres.
MKWeb has had phenomenal success and in November 2004 reached over 2 million page impressions in a month. It continues to grow at a steady 10% growth rate each month.
MKWeb was ranked 3rd in the country out of 464 local authority sites, for its 'penetration' into the community by the prestigious Society of IT Management (SOCITM) in their Better Connected 2003 report.
It was also ranked 7th out of 384 community websites by the Government Audit Office, who looked at the detail and quality of information delivered.
MKWeb's growing success is down to the way content is provided to the site using Portal Constructor.
Portal Constructor allows information to be gathered from all over the city, from various sources including voluntary orgs, council departments, interested parties local businesses
MKWeb boasts Portal Constructor's most dynamic features, including the interactive map, my neighbourhood search, bus route finder and comprehensive business directories. It is these modular features that keep users returning time and time again for information they actually need.
