As one of the most used Council websites in the UK, Milton Keynes' highly successful community portal, MKWeb is continuing its reputation for innovation and citizen engagement.
The power behind the website is Apollo's Portal Constructor Content Management Solution. The modular design and simplicity of the Portal Constructor software allows the highly feature rich and dynamic Community Portal to be constantly updated and maintained with consummate ease.
Furthermore, importantly for Milton Keynes Council, the solution permitted individual users to control and manage the content of their own area of the website, creating an entirely devolved model of Content Management.
As such contributors and publishers of web content at the Council are able to be much more innovative and creative in the way they display information and provide services to the Community.
One such example is the development of the Emergency School Closures module that permits automatic email and text messages to be generated for Council personnel and parents alike, in the event a School needs to close at short notice
